Paris means glitz, fashion and style. June 2018 once again solidified the status of Paris as a major fashion centre when Paris men’s fashion week came around.
On Saturday 23rd of June, I attended the great show depicting controversy and magnificence.
Everything started with Sacai Men Spring 2019, a bold and sophisticated collection with asymmetric fragments, raw edges, and blanket prints.
An independent designer, as she proudly denominates herself, Chitose Abe seems to have made every effort to demonstrate her self-expression, no matter if it sells. Nevertheless, Sacai’s neo-hippies wearing bright-coloured jackets, denims, and immanent headbands received nothing but a positive welcome by the audience.
One of the key shows on my agenda was Dior Homme, an inaugural runway unveiled by Kim Jones as his debut collection. On his first outing for the house, Artistic Director of Dior Homme offered a high-octane spectacle of a show overlooked by a sculpture of pink and black roses depicting a character called “BFF” (Best Friend Forever) designed by the artist Kaws.
Jones took the fashion world by storm by offering romantic silhouettes with multiple references to Mr. Christian Dior, as the same roses inspired the founder back in the 1940s .
Can’t wait for London fashion week, the next destination of my journey, to take off!
